12-Day India Wildlife Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Delhi – Jabalpur – Bandhavgarh
Begin your Central India wildlife tour with a flight from Delhi to Jabalpur. On arrival, meet your private driver and continue by road to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, a journey of approximately 4.5 hours.
After checking into your jungle lodge, take some time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. You may also hear the alarm calls of deer and langurs, which can sometimes indicate the presence of a predator nearby.
Days 2–3: Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve
Over the next two days, explore Bandhavgarh National Park on morning and afternoon jeep safaris. The reserve is one of India’s best-known tiger destinations and offers excellent opportunities to search for Bengal tigers.
As you explore the forest, look for leopards, sloth bears, sambar, chital, wild boar, nilgai, jackals and many other species. Meanwhile, the reserve’s varied habitats also provide wonderful opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife photography.
Depending on park regulations and availability, additional nature activities can also be arranged.
Days 4–6: Kanha Tiger Reserve
After breakfast, leave Bandhavgarh and drive through the scenic countryside towards Kanha Tiger Reserve. Upon arrival, check into your luxury tented camp and enjoy some time to relax.
If you prefer a quieter afternoon, simply enjoy the camp and surrounding forest. Alternatively, you can take a guided nature walk to look for local birds, butterflies and smaller wildlife.
During the following two days, start your mornings with tea or coffee before heading into the forest for a 4×4 jeep safari. Kanha is known for its beautiful sal forests, bamboo groves and open meadows, which create excellent habitats for a wide range of wildlife.
Keep watch for Bengal tigers, sloth bears, gaur, sambar, nilgai, barking deer and numerous bird species. You can enjoy morning and afternoon safaris while your experienced naturalist and tracker help you understand the forest and its wildlife.
Optional activities, such as buffer-zone walks or night experiences, may be available depending on local regulations and park conditions.
Days 7–8: Pench Tiger Reserve
After breakfast, continue your journey to Pench Tiger Reserve, travelling through the countryside of Central India. The drive takes approximately four hours.
Pench is closely associated with Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book and is known for its teak forests, open landscapes and rich wildlife.
During your stay, enjoy morning and afternoon jeep safaris. Search the forest for Bengal tigers, leopards, Asiatic wild dogs, gaur, sambar, nilgai and barking deer. With more than 200 recorded bird species, Pench is also an excellent destination for birdwatchers.
In between safaris, relax at your jungle camp and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the surrounding forest.
Days 9–11: Satpura Tiger Reserve
Continue to Satpura Tiger Reserve, one of Central India’s most diverse wildlife destinations. Compared with some of the region’s better-known parks, Satpura offers a more varied range of activities and a quieter wildlife experience.
Enjoy morning and afternoon jeep safaris while searching for tigers, leopards, sloth bears, gaur, sambar, wild dogs and other forest species.
However, the experience is not limited to jeep safaris. Depending on availability and park regulations, you can also explore the area on guided nature walks and enjoy a memorable canoe experience on the Tawa Reservoir.
These activities provide a different perspective of Central India’s landscapes and wildlife.
Day 12: Satpura – Bhimbetka – Bhopal – Delhi
After breakfast, enjoy your final wildlife activity before leaving Satpura. Continue towards the ancient Bhimbetka Rock Shelters, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its prehistoric rock paintings.
Explore this remarkable archaeological site before continuing to Bhopal Airport for your flight to Delhi.
Your 12-day India wildlife holiday ends with wonderful memories of Central India’s forests, wildlife and cultural heritage.
